It has been a really long time since I’ve posted a hotel review which is a shame because we’ve been in quite a few since my last write up! Luckily, I’ve got the perfect property to share with you as I breathe some new life into this blog series.
I recently visited The Abbey Resort & Avani Spa with a couple girlfriends for a quick, one night getaway. Our main goal was to just hang out and RELAX. Mission accomplished!
The hotel itself has recently undergone many renovations from the restaurants to guest rooms. The hotel grounds are updated but still maintain the integrity of the original property. You definitely will get the “at the lake” vibe in lieu of a brand new chain resort. We loved the arcade and game pavilion they have set up off the main lobby as well, fun for all ages! I’ve also heard that they have renovated that as well since we stayed, so it should be even more fun now.
The restaurants have also been updated and all of the food we had was delicious. Every staff member we encountered was extremely friendly and helpful, they really had A+ service all around! We enjoyed drinks prior to dinner at The Waterfront – very friendly staff and seems like it would be a fun place during the weekend (we were in on a Sunday night so it was pretty quiet). For dinner, definitely make your way to 240 West the food was amazing and our waiter was extremely friendly, with jokes too!
We had a standard, harbor view room. Had we stayed another night or had more than 3 guests, I’d definitely book a larger room. The suites are well equipped and offer much more space for a group or family. Overall, the room was comfy and well equipped with a nice view. Note that the balcony is one long shared space with all other rooms. (Some suites have private balconies).
The spa on site is really an amazing facility, especially if you are going with a group of gals. Hands down, it is the most comprehensive spa experience you’ll find in the Lake Geneva area. The large indoor pool and private sun deck area are perfect to relax at all day before and after treatments. They also offer exercise classes along with the large menu of spa services. We were all very pleased with the massages and facials we received.
There are two separate outdoor pools (one for adults and one for kids) which was really a great amenity during our kid-free getaway! Additionally, there is an indoor pool. We weren’t doing a family trip, but it seemed that the resort is a great place for that with loads to do (kiddie pool, free bike rental, arcade, free board game rental, etc). I’d definitely recommend it when traveling with kids too!
- Downtown Shopping: Find an eclectic mix of boutiques, antique shops and novelty items as you stroll through the historic downtown area.
- Beach It: Enjoy some time on the nice, clean beach of Lake Geneva.
- Dan Patch Stables: Take a calm horse on a trail ride and let the little ones feed and pet some cute farm animals.
- The Mountain Top: If you’re visiting in the Winter, this is a must stop. Grab a mulled wine, go sledding, ice skating and/or skiing!
Anyone else a regular to Lake Geneva? I’d love to hear what your resort of choice is in the area and why!
Full Disclosure: This is a sponsored post which means I did not pay for this resort stay. I like to keep my posts as transparent as possible so as a final review: Would I have stayed here regardless of the sponsorship? Yes. And, would I stay here again and pay out-of-pocket? Yes.
